If this zfs send (to a pool on USB) works without the origin pool degrading, I'll call it "good enough for now" and not go through with my threat to buy a pre-built NAS

I'm extremely spoiled regarding hard drive speeds, btw. Mechanical hard drives seem incredibly slow when I have machines that are entirely solid-state storage
