@FirstProgenitor @Thomas The original Pacific Rim should've come with a collectable branded neck brack to protect theatergoers from pogging so hard they get whiplash

i re-shelled my switch and joycons because the old translucent purple shells had some pretty big cracks in them. i filled in the embossing on the buttons with liquid white-out to give them some contrast
i also replaced the faceplate on my dock with a soft touch wood patterned plate because i thought it looked cool. i could have gone with another translucent purple faceplate for it but there aren't many electronics behind that plate so there wasn't much to show off
But criticism and peer pressure are certainly a strong force. So we need to start by talking about it. We need to discuss the absurdity of lawns with those around us and get them excited about the alternatives.
If you are renting, this might be even harder or even impossible. But you can try.

Why do people here refer to Twitter as "birdsite"? /afterthought about toxic algorythms
Just to flesh out the case here a little bit: I firmly believe that the way that corporate "social" networks use algorythms is toxic. The algorythms are used to encourage "engagement". They make you angry so you have to post more, they hide what you want to see to make you scroll more. They make you talk about people not with people. They make you crave voyeuristic entertainment, not conversation.
