For more than a decade, there's been a more pragmatic approach to homelessness: giving people homes. The housing first movement has repeatedly shown that the best way to make homeless people not homeless is to give. them. a. home.
After all, if you are struggling with addiction, mental illness, etc, or if you eed structure in your life, the chaos of not having a home only makes this a thousand times worse.
conservatives love to do shit like errode affordable childcare, force families into all the adults working full times and often times multiple jobs, destroy communal child care with the nuclear family and THEN destroy the nuclear family but in the bad way where nobody has time to look after their kids, create systemic mental health crises they refuse to deal with,
then say shit like "well um actually, parents should supervise the things their kids do online, stop blaming companies for their total lack of content moderation"
sure, the anprims are fascists and generally we all agree they're kinda fucked up. but man they really would solve the Pandora's box that is the internet. just blow the fucker sky high and we can all go back to dying of influenza at 24 without having seen pregnant elsa fighting spiderman with twerking minecraft zombies taking a shit
If you're wondering whether you should vote at all, the answer is unequivocally "yes, you should". You should also do a bunch more immediate and effective work.
But there are good reasons why fascists spend so much effort trying to get people not to vote:
Who the President is matters
Who the national representatives are matters
Who your local officials are matters
No, simply voting will not fix a broken system. Just like bailing water doesn't fix a leaky boat. That doesn't mean it's not important! Voting in a system that's less broken gives people the time and space to do the other work.
