Okay #fediverse, hit me with your static-site-comments solutions!
I've been using Disqus on one site and direction to tweet me on another, and neither option sits well with me anymore.
Besides directing all my readers to #Mastodon (and why wouldn't I?!), whatcha got?
@vickylai Instead of posting comments on your site, people should quote and link back on their own sites.
That way they can have their say without making it your problem.
@vickylai I don't think it'll suit you but on my GH Pages-hosted blog I link to a GitHub wiki.
Perhaps I'll try to figure something out when I finally get my Raspberry Server working.
@alcinnz That could be an option. My personal site is on GitHub Pages as it is so I'm halfway there. Thanks for the idea!
I've heard about this but I haven't tried it myself.
@danyspin97 Thanks for the lead, looks like a contender!
@vickylai on my blog I wrote a small javascript/php/sqlite thing for comments, everything else is static. I’m willing to share if you want it.
@haloedrain Yes please, I'm interested to see it! :)
@vickylai I’m traveling so it may take a few days to get it up somewhere
@vickylai
I've used this on a friend's site. It's a simple php comment system, which I just reference in the new post template. https://www.commentics.org
@vickylai havn't tried this, but maybe you want to: https://nemethgergely.com/using-github-for-comments-on-your-blog/
@thomas Thank you! Downside is it won't work without JS, but maybe I can figure something out... Good lead!
@vickylai If you host your static site on GitHub, have a look at StaticMan: https://github.com/eduardoboucas/staticman Open Source Design use it on their Jekyll website, hopefully, with no issues.
@vickylai Interested in the solution as I recently turned off Disqus and haven't found a suitable replacement.
