am just imagining this frenzied attempt to copy all the data out of the s3 buckets and dump the databases

"if aws can kick parler off they can kick you off too"
yes, you have successfully identified one of the risks of relying on a third party for literally anything, i don't think this is the hot take you think it is...
if a vendor is _critical_ to your operations, you should probably work pretty hard to maintain that relationship
and sometimes, that means not assisting in attempts to overthrow the government...

@twitter of course on hacker news people are complaining that "payment processors should be a utility" and I'm like... no shit, people who buy legal cannabis have had to deal with this for decades... no, they are not a utility...

@twitter what a wild bloody ride
re: uspol, parler
@twitter unfortunately for them, Amazon takes a lot of time and effort to hide the actual locations of their datacenters

@twitter I think some of it is all the Nazi bots and virulent racist assholes finally getting banned by twitter... That and they expected most of their followers to just quit twitter, not close the accounts, so between the bots and the account closures, they think they're getting shadowbanned. Or something similar. Screaming on national television they can't communicate with their base anymore. Because heaven knows the sociopath with a private jet can't afford a TV and cable...

@twitter @rysiek "if AWS can enforce their acceptable use policy on Parler after repeated warnings, then if you egregiously violate their TOS, they could enforce it on you too". Yes, this is how policies function
Not seeing the problem here, beyond concentration of resources in near-monopolies is not good for the Internet, which we already knew

@twitter man... they'll get to Micro Center 5 minutes before closing to find out that they have 2 shingled 4TB WD reds and maybe 6 1TB Barracudas left
