If you don't ask, the answer is always "no." But if you do ask, the occasional "yes" is an exciting surprise.

Can we just agree that Watermelon is the worst "flavor" for anything?

Updated a PHP lib I publish. Set minimum PHP version to 7.1. Got complaints.

"I'm on 5.6! Why'd you break my site?!?"

Wasn't my fault. I warned you. In the readme. In the configuration. In a massive warning screen printed on your site.

"OK, fine, I upgraded Debian. Now I have PHP 7.0. But things are still broken!!!"

I know. Minimum is 7.1. That's not 7.0.

"Is this even necessary?!"

Yep. You're paying exactly $0 for this tool. Unless that changes, I define the acceptance criteria.

Urg, if you use Letsencrypt with nginx on Debian, don’t forget to add restarting nginx to the cron-job:

Otherwise your site serves up old certificates even though you have new ones…

Another “one hit wonder” that made plenty of good music is Thomas Dolby. He’s known for “She Blinded Me with Science”, but his other songs are much more fun. Like “The Key to Her Ferrari”, “The Flat Earth”, and “Dissidents”.

You can turn off the news and sign off social media for a bit. It's okay.

ICYWW you can generate a video from a still image and an audio clip in Linux using ffmpeg:
"ffmpeg loop 1 -y -i <image> -i <audio> -shortest -t <duration of video> <video file to write to>"

readthedocs is a real nice system! At first I was concerned with a web-based documentation system (can't connect to the interwebs while on a flight!), but the download docs feature works really well!

I'd hazard a guess that more people have had their password 'stolen' typing it into a phishing site with a padlock (https) than have lost it on a legitimate site without https. People were trained to trust https/tls markers as legitimate. That's not the case anymore. Https now just means encrypted not necessarily trusted. It'll take years retrain the public.
