Nat Friedman says that "Microsoft plans to maintain GitHub's Atom text editor". I am happy to hear this, as I use Atom. I am a little concerned that the executive director at the Linux Foundation seems to think that Microsoft buying Github is a win for opensource. Given Microsoft's reputation of damaging their aquisitions, I'm not sure how this is a win. Does anyone care to weigh in on this one? https://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-foundation-microsofts-github-buy-is-a-win-for-open-source
@sraysmith there's been a lot of weighing in already, almost all of it negative. Personally, I don't see the problem. Microsoft today is very different to Microsoft 10 years ago, and there have been no indications anything at all is going to change with the acquisition.
I'm in the "wait and see" camp. If changes come and people don't agree with them, there are alternatives out there.
