Bio - I'm a guitarist, husband, dad (2 teenagers and 4 dogs) IT Geek and gamer - I work in IT and gig most weekends in a covers band.
I live in Scotland, grew up in Edinburgh and would love it if you said hi and where you are from too.

Browsing SQL tutorials for #Golang and there are a bunch of examples that panic() on every error. Please don't encourage new gophers to panic at the first sign of trouble.
No need to panic. Just pass the error if you don't know what to do with it.
@ashfurrow - for those of us new to Mastodon, what's your advice for making friends and finding & creating value (esp. here on this instance)? Thanks!
#introduction toot because I've personally found it to be a good way to find people:
"To help some of the newcomers make connections: name 5-7 things that interest you but aren't in your profile, as tags so they are searchable. Then boost this post or repeat its instructions so others know to do the same."
Hi, this account is for Workbench Alpha, a makerspace we're trying to get setup in East London, UK. We're hoping to improve on the usual ad-hoc makerspace model by actively pursuing long-term socially positive goals and directly supporting sustainability & life-essential projects.
And before you ask, yes we don't expect to use this logo forever but it's better than the one we don't have yet.
Tech lover; I develop IoT/smart building systems designed around human health & wellness; I'm also a huge Liverpool FC fan!
This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
