This is fascinating[1].

Anyone who knows anything about copyright law laughs their arses off, of course (and here's a primer for anyone who needs it[2]).

But this *is* dangerous. A lot of people have no clue, copyright is byzantine in its complexity, and it just takes a few ill-informed judges to make this into a thing. And coinbros will push their bullshit, whether they know they're wrong or not.

@rysiek I read the energy of that DM as a mix of buyers remorse and doubling down.

@paul it is exactly this. Somebody looked at the facts, started having second thoughts, and then promptly decided: "no! it's the world that is wrong!"

But still, this is dangerous if allowed to spread. In the long run it *will* normalize "NFT-as-ownership" bullshit, even though it makes no legal nor technical sense what-so-ever.

Better to nip this one in the bud.

@rysiek oh absolutely agree. Didn't mean to derail. If there is one thing that has become painfully apparent in the past few years, it's that stupid spreads.

@paul oh, I don't think there was any derailment there!

You made a great point, I love the buyers remorse + doubling down angle! It just works™.

Lemme make an NFT for that and own it for perpetuity now! brb
