@liaizon @Gargron @TheGibson nah. Even if they get it off the ground (they won't) and it won't crash during the first days of operation (it will), everyone and their dog on fedi will block that instance, and the MAGA dweebs will just self-quarantine to it, as they want to be where the Annoying Orange is.
Popcorn will be useful though!
@rysiek I'd agree that the Fediverse has learned the lessons of the past and give excellent controls over allowing or disallowing specific actors.
I'd argue though, by pushing those actors out of standard interactions, we're just giving them more cause and echo chamber to go further extreme.
Not that I want Mastodon filled with that hate. I like it here. It's a comfortable place. 😄
@ozoned I agree on the echo chamber, *but* they would have their echo chambers anyway. WhatsApp groups, Telegram channels, etc.
By denying them access to the broader public we deny them the ability to easily recruit and radicalize more people.
We still need a good solution for the echo chambers problem, of course. But it's already a huge step.
This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
