discussion with a dev today .. they wanted to run prettier.io in a pre-commit hook.
i dislike the idea of committing code that hasn't been tested.
if a pre-commit runs prettier, changes the code to make it more beautiful, then it gets committed, then that commit contains untested code.
im sure in general prettier probably wont break stuff but it feels wrong to advocate it's use in a pre-commit like that.
better alternatives are prettier on save or a prettier && test script
what are your thoughts?
I truly believe that #ActivityPub (the protocol behind #Mastodon) has the potential to redefine the way we create and connect on the internet. But to get there, we need to spread the word - a network is only as valuable as the people in it.
I want to get that ball rolling - I wrote a blog post about how ActivityPub is going to change the internet. Check it out here: https://jeremydormitzer.com/blog/what-is-activitypub-and-how-will-it-change-the-internet/. And please boost/share to your other networks so we can keep making the Fediverse bigger!
Seems an interesting discussion worth having.
Keybase confirmed that it will soon support Mastodon. For those not familiar with Keybase, Keybase is a key directory that maps social media identities to encryption keys (including, but not limited to PGP keys) in a publicly auditable manner. Use Keybase to establish ownership of your social media accounts like Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, etc.

This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
