Love it when a SAN dies and corrupts the filesystem of every VM in a cluster. Computers were a mistake.

It's nuts that even on 14.1, Springboard drops frames and misses touches while app updates are installing. Are they downloading updates on the main thread?

Every time a customer asks me about our company's "cyber planning", "cyber resiliency", or "cyber preparation", I die a little inside.

14.1 release notes includes "Fixes an issue that could prevent zeroes from appearing in Calculator". How do you screw up a **calculator** that badly?

Like, how much of the reasoning behind Big Sur's larger UI elements is just because Apple ships all their laptops with horrible non-integer scaling by default that makes the interface elements in Catalina smaller than the HIG mandates?

I don't understand why Apple ships all their laptops with non-integer display scaling modes by default. This 16" rMBP looks *amazing* at 1536x960@2x (native 2x) and looks painfully fuzzy at the default 1792x1120@2x (~2.3x scale), plus all the interface elements are way too small at 132@2x dpi...

Does the battery-usage-by-app screen work for anyone in 14? Mine just hangs and makes the phone concerningly warm, suggesting something is spinning on the CPU.

2.2.3 has a bug breaking ACLs and sample fetchers against any HTTP method not enumerated in RFC 2616. The bug involves C structs full of function pointers implementing quasi object orientation. Gross.

Got Sonic FTTH installed at home today. Going from 250 Mbps down / 12 Mbps up on Comcast to 900/850 on Sonic is pretty sweet. I'm sad to lose dual-stack , though.

I know I'm late to this party, but I just tried to fetch the source for a a Python module and learned that deleted all the repositories without hosting any backups or archives and with only a few months notice. Helpful reminder: don't fucking use Atlassian products.

You know it's bad when you're trying to figure out how much it would cost to retrofit air conditioning onto your pre-indoor-plumbing 110-year-old house.

(The answer is... way way too much...)

Why do hangouts links on iOS open in the gmail app now? What's wrong with the hangouts app? Why are apps so dang bad?

Last day of my full-time parental leave. There's absolutely no way I'm going to be a productive member of society any time soon... This should be interesting.

This is kind of out there, but has anyone ever come across a bug where some `storcli` commands can cause an LSI controller to reset ~0.1% of in-flight IOPS? I have a good reproducer for it, but of course LSI was sold Avago who was sold to Broadcom who doesn't care about RAID controllers so there's not really an "upstream" to engage with...
