Why is `factor` in GNU ? Are there really a lot of people looking to get prime factors in their bash scripts?

This tool isn't even very good. I passed it the modulus from an RSA4096 key and it hasn't even finished yet.

@roguelazer I could see it being useful as a quick and dirty benchmark or stress test.

I think you're gonna need a quantum implementation for your RSA key.

@roguelazer hmm, on my box it throws "is too large" if I give it enough digits. Not useful then.

@synack Wow, so not only is this weird tool in GNU Coreutils, someone's actively updating it (or at least, updated it once since the version I'm using)!
