ugh, 5.1.6 and above no longer link with the version of LD on our systems, failing with the error “Invalid absolute R_X86_64_32S relocation: _etext”; one person reported this to LKML in May and then vanished.

@gudenau I am not going to replace the linker in our large production environment…


@gudenau There’s a Gentoo bug report saying that switching to the latest BFD LD fixes it, so I’m sure a new linker would work; I’m just irked that the clang-kernel people broke mainline for a common toolchain.
