Manyverse is an Android app for the Scuttlebutt social network.

Scuttlebutt is very unusual: it has no servers. All the data people share is stored on their own devices, and on the devices of people they share it with.

It's also unusual because it can work off-the-grid, via bluetooth or local wifi.

Manyverse is available from @fdroidorg and Google Play, and there's an iOS version on the way:

manyver.se

You can follow Manyverse at:

Could you advice me on a cheap hosting provider for a small dedicated server?
I need to be able to manage cron tasks and vhosts (that's why I need a dedicated one). I was using a kimsufi at 20 euros per month but I would like a cheaper one.

I miiiiight want some art for my coming YouTube channel. It's name is rotten byte (yeah I'm a dorky nerd), and I'm wanting a scary monsterous Chasmaporthetes ossifragus (ancient hyena, looked a bit like an aardwolf) with its mouth open. Could just be the head, could be a head for the avatar and then a whole thing. Anyone do monster art? Anyone know of a qtPoC or neurodivergent PoC monster artist? Will pay!

hey #retrocomputing fans

what was the last mass-market personal computer released where a user could have a chance at achieving at least some level of understanding about every thing that happened on it?

Fediverse users who are blind or partially sighted rely on screen readers to read posts aloud.

It's important to add alt texts on images you post, so screen reader users know what is in them.

You can do this on Mastodon by clicking on "Describe for the visually impaired" after attaching an image.

But what if you forget?

Well, there's a useful bot which will send you an instant message if you forget to add alt text:

@alt_text

To use it, just follow it!

Hey do y'all happen to know of anyone running #WriteFreely on a #Guix system? I'd like to, but without having to figure it out myself, if possible. #WriteAs
