@returntrip it is possible to run single user with 1GB ram. If be concerned about disk space, and I'd consider something other than mastodon, but ...
Did you know that you can support this instance economically?
I have set up a liberapay acount so users can support the Linux.Pizza project.
More donors = more services and we will be able to spend more time on it.
Linux.Pizza is 95% financed by our own pocket, which means that the fate of this instance and services boils down to one person only (basically a single point of failure).
I hope that we can build a community together where everyone's input is valuable!

Well here we go, a Synapse release candidate fresh from the press. 1.6.0rc1 contains federation support for cross signing, version 5 rooms by default and prep for database sharding. Check it out if you would like to help us test https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/releases/tag/v1.6.0rc1
You can now watch my talk on the future of Internet regulation at the European Parliament yesterday on Peertube (@joinpeertube) thanks to @vincib
And here are my slides (which were on the screens but aren’t visible in the video):
As far as teasers go, this one you shouldn't miss! A data analytics app in development for #Nextcloud... Feedback welcomed by the author @z000ao8q of course. 💪💪
I summarized the last #fossgbg here - slides and code in the links!
In order to secure your #Nextcloud from the #NextCry attack, you should keep all writable data on a volume that is mounted with `noexec`. Of course you should also make sure you have your setup up-to-date and check the current security best-practices for nextcloud.
Finally you should also make sure you have very regular backups of your data, don't consider synchronized data as backup.
I played with delta.chat for a couple days. The concept is very admirable. Sending first messages to folks are just like emails. The get them in clear text, and can just reply from their MTA. But if they also have the delta.chat app, and reply, then it can roll over to E2E encrypted communication for that contact.
As for usability, their phone app is slightly nicer because it can access your phone's contacts. Otherwise feels about like Signal UI.
tl;dr; neat! but i'm not going to migrate
