I'll give you this, Amazon: Telling people you're going to Queens and then bailing is one thing New Yorkers can relate to.

Because I know someone will ask, it was loaded potato + tortilla soups, and I have no regrets.

Submitted and merged my first PR into the Cooking app today! 🥳

I also combined two very different soups, because I didn’t want to choose between them.

All in all, a very good day. 🙌🏻

My new commute is kind of terrible. Google estimates 34 mins, but literally all the stars and planets have to align for that to happen. I’ve been giving myself 45 mins, but even that’s risky.

My best bet is gonna be: a) give myself a full hour, and/or b) avoid any transfers

Moar joy sparked with this thread!

I found out recently that I’m allergic to sesame. You’d be surprised at how easy it is to accidentally consume sesame.
The seeds are tiny AF and the oil is used in quite a lot of dishes. Not to mention tahini is basically sesame.

My team at NYT Cooking is hiring for a bunch of roles, including Android and a manager for mobile.
It’s a very fun team and an exciting time to join while the company is experiencing massive growth.

It’s not even 8pm and I’m already in bed under the covers. Younger me would find current me incredibly boring. But current me knows I’m winning.

I usually zone out during orientation presentations, but I learned so many fascinating things today from all areas of the Times.

There’s a lot of positive energy. Definitely an exciting time to be joining!

Someone at orientation is wearing a scrunchie, and it reminded of that ep. of Sex in the City where Carrie mocked her bf for mentioning a scrunchie in his book, claiming that no New Yorker in her right mind would ever wear one.

Anyway the 90s are really back, and I’m horrified.

I put on some Juan Gabriel while getting ready for work, and I guess it encouraged the workers downstairs, because they started blasting their own Mexican music, and I’m not even mad.

Mixed feelings, just based on the quote on the cover. Haven’t read the piece.

I think there are a good number of well-intentioned white dudes who want to do better or do more but don’t know what that means.

Because you know what we don’t discuss nearly enough? The white male experience. 🤦🏾‍♀️

After my burnout 4 years ago, I learned to allow myself to embrace days when I am exhausted, to be ok accomplishing very little on those days, and not to "push through it". As someone who measures their worth by their output, that was a big change. Health > Hustle

I’m feeling very accomplished today. I even taught the boyfriend how to properly use the term “word.” All in a day’s work.
