I just found out that @codeberg ia doing custom domain for pages. So you can host your pages on Codeberg and use your own domain. Lot of people stuck with GitHub because it provided pages. Now a lot of people can move to Codeberg and become free from GitHub. Amazing news.

@humanetech @matiiob @Tutanota if this is by company, it should consider all Meta products combined, for once. I also find it very odd that Google, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon barely show up if at all.

@aral my dear Platypush is a big monorepo, and I don't think it'd be so maintainable and easy to set up if that wasn't the case. Let's not forget that the Linux kernel itself is a huge modular monorepo.

Monorepos designed as "modu-repos" (where you have very loosely connected, or completely independent modules connected through a very thin common core) are actually IMHO one of the best way to structure large projects: you get everything in one place, but everything is loosely connected so you don't end up with a bowl of spaghetti functional dependencies (as long as developers are disciplined enough and keep things tidy and separate). And if you want to deploy multiple artifacts from it, you can still do it easily.

I still see the value for having multiple projects in complex architectures, but I don't get all the hatred that monorepos get today: monorepos can be well designed, just like modular microservices can be badly designed :)

@dredmorbius @vkc Even though I agree email is far from perfect and I don't intend to defend it whatsoever, it is our only alternative in being able to reach businesses and governments in these days without depending necessarily on a big tech or giving up privacy (on your own end, at least). But I agree that I don't see a good outcome from this situation, because inevitably email will fade and we don't have a good alternative.

Google is the top spy among all Big Tech companies. So to protect your privacy to the maximum, you need to stop using Google services wherever possible.

The most difficult part when quitting Google is if you've got an Android phone as most apps use Google Push notifications.

But the number of open source apps refusing to let Google spy on their users is constantly growing. 😎 💪

Here are our favorite FOSS apps that do not use Google Push! 😍
