Apparently the torrent protocol and onion routing don't mix. I'm not sure why.

@octet33 (there are numerous reasons, but afaik torrenting WORKS but is discouraged as it puts a lot of stress on an already stressed network. Fully prepared to be wrong though)

@octet33 I've always assumed it was because tor had limited bandwidth on the exit nodes, but I'm probably wrong

@octet33 my understanding is i2p works much better for this, because every user of the network is also by default a relay, but it doesn't allow you to seed to people using clearnet. I wonder how well bittorrent over tor would scale if it was only seeding via onions without ever reaching normal seeds
