Citys, Nature, long

I am madly in love with my city. But not just as a city, also as an ecosystem.

Right now I'm sitting on my porch. In view I see
- A beautiful blue sky with clouds.
- A green space, in varying stages of being reclaimed by plants.
- 2 vacant houses.
- power lines.
- the distant roar of a highway.

And I love all of these things. It's humans and nature coexisting. Coexisting badly, but isn't that sometimes a part of coexisting?

I love camping and "escaping to nature". The quiet is wonderful. But I've never really gotten the concept of it being an escape INTO nature. You are literally always in nature, you cannot escape from it.

I would make the case that the only people who are outside of nature are the 7 people currently in orbit.

Our urban spaces are a vibrant ecosystem, both of people and plants and wildlife.

I see lots of people who run away to start a rural commune to live in harmony with nature and each other.

I think my project is going to be to figure out how to do that right here.
