I should probably increase my meds again but the side effects SUUUCK and I'm so sick of them and I've tried almost all of them.

@md Therapists weren't much help. Psychoactives are not much better. In 50 years of cyclical depression the only help for me was to pretend it doesn't exist and mentally isolate myself. That has it's limits and is why I haven't been able to keep a regular job more than two years. The explosions are quite spectacular at times. Being bipolar has it's perks though.😜

@AskChip ha! I think it's also why I hop from job to job a LOT. i think i keep hoping to find something else that makes me happy. i'm finally starting to recognize that the job isn't the problem. I've had major depressive disorder since my teens you'd think I'd have figured that out by now! ;P

@md I’m sorry, that sucks. I’m struggling with severe depression as well. Perhaps time to try to change meds if side effects are too much? I had to go through A LOT of meds to find something that works. The most life-changing (or rather life-giving) thing for me is Ketamine infusions. If that’s available where you are i highly recommend giving it a try! Hugs & good luck!

@thomasfuchs thanks. I have another friend who tried Ketamine. My last psych doc discouraged me from trying it, but I stopped seeing her so maybe I should think about trying it again.

@md It really changed my life. Blows away any bad thoughts. And studies show that it actually helps the brain heal itself. In a clinical/doctor setting it's also really safe.

I've also tried a couple different therapists and stopped seeing them because neither one seemed to be much help. I know I should probably keep looking and try to find another one but it's pretty hard to research another therapist when you can't even make yourself get out of bed.
