When cooking bacon, is there some kind of ancient secret technique to avoid getting bacon splatter all over my stove?

I've been trying to cover my frying pan while the bacon is cooking, but I still get a little splatter when taking the cover on and off to turn the bacon.

@JordiGH There is, of course, a single-purpose site about just this: baconmethod.com/ (I don't know that I've had particularly better or worse results with it, but it's certainly easy)
