Give me a break if Mastodon turns into facebook 2 then I am out of here. I have actual work to do besides being told that technical terminology from those that come before me is "racially charged". Instead of giving those pioneers respect, today's generation pulls their finger out of their nose long enough to try to shame those of us that built what they did not. And they don't have any respect for it. I liked it better when these fools couldn't technically connect to the net.
Most importantly, stop putting institutional events on Facebook, stop using it at universities, stop making participation in Facebook mandatory through your institutional, organization, and activist roles. You can be online, and social, and connected without supporting Facebook.
Decentralize your world.
There is of course #mastodon as federated social media.
There is good old #email as federated postbox (as long as not everyone uses GMail).
There is #peertube as a federated video platform.
There is #Riot / Matrix.org as federated group messaging.
There is #XMPP for federated 1on1 messaging.
And there is #nextcloud as federated cloud storage.
In theory most services are already federated. We only miss more users :)
Has anyone built an API based on GraphQL? I have the opportunity to get some training on it this weekend. It's at a critical time as I pitch my app rewrite to the big wigs at work.

While "you are invited to Parliament to speak on this subject" may be interpreted as "we'd like you come and talk if it's not too much bother" to some foreign ears, the phrase actually means "COME HERE RIGHT THIS SECOND YOU LITTLE SHIT AND EXPLAIN YOURSELF"
