Some bits of news about Linux on the desktop, from the #Kubuntu perspective: https://kubuntu.org/news/linux-on-the-desktop/
Aaaand here it is, #Kubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla is out! Plasma 5.19.5 and KDE Applications 20.08 out of the box (so to speak).
https://kubuntu.org/news/kubuntu-20-10-groovy-gorilla-released/
The 20.10 release is perilously close! You can help us test (or just peruse the status and find out about some fun other flavours of Ubuntu; did you know there's a Raspberry Pi desktop image now?) over at http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/418/builds on the Ubuntu QA site.
KDE is 24 years old today! Share in the comments your favorite KDE memory, ye olde screenshots, photos from events, tell us about antique merch you have collected over time, or about anything else from your ❤️ story with KDE.

Nice to see the pre-installed Linux laptop world expanding; admittedly, we're not exactly impartial ;)
The #Kubuntu Council and Community would like to thank #Linode for once again renewing their sponsorship of Kubuntu by providing us with another year’s usage of a VPS instance 🙂

For those cautiously sticking to #Kubuntu 18.04, our previous Long-Term Support release: 18.04.5 is out now! More a matter of semantics if you've got an existing install, as there's nothing you need to do then other than apply updates as usual, but for fresh installs (although of course we recommend 20.04 for maximum freshness!) you'll now see 18.04.5 images are available to download. https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/
#Kubuntu 20.04.1 has been released! If you were waiting on the first point release before upgrading to our current Long-Term Support version, now's the time :) Users on 18.04 should see upgrade notifications soon™.
Ubuntu Studio team revealed that 20.04 LTS would be the last version featuring #XFCE desktop. They found themselves using @Kubuntu with Ubuntu Studio added-on via Ubuntu Studio Installer as their daily driver, so why not? https://www.invidio.us/watch?v=TAZO3ZgnsDQ @kde #PlasmaDesktop #Linux #Ubuntu20.10
Time marches on; Kubuntu 19.10 has reached the end of its life. Best to upgrade to 20.04 (a Long-Term Support release!) now if you haven't already. If you can't update quite yet, don't worry, it will still be possible even once the packages are archived. See https://kubuntu.org/news/kubuntu-19-10-eoan-ermine-reaches-end-of-life/ for more details.
Are you running the development release of Kubuntu Groovy Gorilla 20.10, or wanting to try the daily live ISO?
