The Linux Questions community has voted and declared KDE Plasma "Desktop Environment of the Year 2018", Kdenlive "Authoring App of the Year", Dolphin "File Manager of the Year" and Konsole "X Terminal Emulator of the Year" for second year in a row.

Why, oh why, has the Xfce-desktop development stalled in recent years.

Might turn to KDE in future! it has become lightweight enough, too.

@linux I think a lot of people went to Mate in the meantime as well. I get the impression the effort in Xfce is centered around the GTK2 > GTK3 transition.

@mjjzf Mate is great.

I can trust the newcomers with it in flying colors. Especially Ubuntu MATE via Mutiny layout! Now that Unity is gone (but still in the works by the UBPorts community).

@kde +1 to all! Congrats to community that develops great stuff

@kde Wow, I'm surprised Trinity is in there, as I know there are a few people who use that, and I stopped using Trinity when I found I could install the Qt 5 "style plugins", as well as when I found I could just kill compositing in Plasma, but the option for that is just not obvious!
