I discovered this interesting regression that happened on about 1.5 yrs back! github.com/gohugoio/hugo/issue

Earlier it was possible to have post urls to contain double-hyphens, like example.com/foo--bar/. Now Hugo force reduces the double hyphens to single hyphens: example.com/foo-bar/.

I don't know if it helps getting this regression fixed, but if you think that if a user wants a url to have double hyphens and Hugo should respect that, please thumbs-up on that issue.
