I follow a person that:
Talks about how society is bad and needs to stop monopolies. Says that people need to use more open source and stop with the closed source stuff.
Sells software on Apple platform.
Instead of contributing to existing software prefers to reinvent the wheel recreating a lot of existing tools just to say they are the author.
Ahh the hypocrisy....
@jlhertel It's nice to have ideals, but then it's also nice to have something to eat. You can't demand all-or-nothing commitment from anyone who dares to mention that the current situation could be somewhat improved. Even a little bit counts.
Totally agree with your argument. People need to make money somehow and the world is not black and white.
On the other hand, the person I'm mentioning complains about people that has such vision and need money to eat, yet it does exactly the same.
@jlhertel Maybe they secretly complain about themselves? I think it's still better to complain than to simply accept the situation as just how it is. Sooner or later you tire of repeating the same complaints over and over and do something, even if it's the smallest thing. And the more vocal like-minded people there are around you, the easier it becomes.
