Poland; sexual abuse; Politics
So right wing extremists have used citizen legislation law to propose a law that outlaws sexual education (up to three years). What did polish Parliament did: increased sentence to 5 years.
But what really moves me is that actual child-sexual abuse survivor, needs to write on their Facebook that this law is stupid and it could lead to more harm. This person is very strong, has a lot of own issues going on, and they need to handle that shit as well.

#2214 "Chemistry Nobel"
Most chemists thought the lanthanides and actinides could be inserted in the sixth and seventh rows, but no, they're just floating down at the bottom with lots more undiscovered elements all around them.

One of recurring aspects of "The Phoenix Project" is a weird CXO that takes main character (who is responsible for the Operations Division) to a local factory, and explains him how to manage operations using factory metaphor.
At some point the CXO says: "you think It operations is rocket science compared to manufacturing. What an absolute baloney. From where I'm sitting, the people in this building have been far more creative and courageous than IT guys so far".
Genie: You have ONE WISH.
Me: Alright, I have one, but it's very detailed.
Genie: As long as it is only one wish, you're allowed to spend as much time as you want detailing it.
Me: Alright, here we go. *Grabs notebook and takes a deep breath* The key words MUST, MUST NOT, REQUIRED, SHALL, SHALL NOT, SHOULD, SHOULD NOT, RECOMMENDED, MAY, and OPTIONAL are to be interpreted as described in [RFC2119].
Genie: Wait, is that...?
Me: *Flips notebook* Chapter 1. Preamble.
I finally got "The Phoenix Project" book which is a *novel* about IT management i a big organisation.
It is a really enjoyable read (but probably only if you are in IT, or at least know some jargon).
Probably only novel that is tax deductible 😉.
When I finish it, I'll finally start next sffbookclub book.
According to biologists, the function of zebras' stripes is to ward off insects. Based on that idea, a team of scientists painted zebra stripes on cows. This reduced the number of biting flies on the cows by more than 50%. https://realclearscience.com/quick_and_clear_science/2019/10/07/painting_zebra_stripes_on_cows_wards_off_biting_flies.html Applied evolutionary biology!
