Yesterday evening was sponsored by broken thumbdrive used as OS installation media. All kinds of heisenbugs ensued.

If you are an avid reader you'll remember this is not the first time it happened? Why did I not throw away that thumbdrives? I have no idea too.

I have destroyed them today.

TravisCI, for crying out loud, get your act together! 🙄

If your network infrastructure fails, please restart my build and don't just mark them as failed...

(yeah, I know, it's not exactly a trivial thing I'm asking for here)

Canonical: experimental ZFS for the Ubuntu 19.10 !

Great on servers!

1. Snapshots. Computer can be configured to record what the file system looked like at a specific moment in time.

2. Compression. ZFS supports compressing of data at rest, which means data takes up less space on the drive than it would otherwise.

3. ZFS has advanced features; copy on write and checksumming that provides support to prevent data rot.

Q: If you, like me, make your income via the internet (not just through something like ecommerce or Patreon...but like a day job that is internet related), and the internet were to go away tomorrow, what other skills do you have to make a living?

I don't know if I have any, and that disappoints me.

Feel free to boost to get a bigger answer pool.

What I don't appreciate is that some operations are slower on Windows, especially anything that requires heavy-io. Especially pip install and docker *.

I appreciate font scaling in Windows. It's much better than in my patchworky-i3-linux desktop.

"Quantum Night" by Robert J. Sawyer is really impressive. Fascinating immersion to psychology science mixed with thinking about utilitarianism.

We obsess over improving dev productivity and ignore the rest of the organisation. It’s the equivalent of taking a slow train and then renting a Lamborghini to race the last mile to the hotel.

holy shit. I did it. It actually works.

I have spun up a Pleroma instance on... my fucking Nintendo Switch. I don't think the Switch was ever intended to be a **webserver**, but hey, it's 2019 and there are lightbulbs with CPUs built into them soooo

It can be accessed at cursed.frinkel.tech. don't sign up if you want a reliable instance, since it'll probably be down 90% of the time, since I'd actually like to use my switch to do what it was intended to do and play games. :P
