* People fined for driving a car;

Poland Covid Rule-of-law (---)

According to media and social media polish policeman will intercept walikig/riding a bicycle as this supposedly contradicts new regulation from the Health Ministry.

This will require some unpacking.

Clergy Child Abuse in Poland // GOOD NEWS

First high payout to victim of child sexual abuse by priest was upheld by the highest court.

So victim gets to keep their 1 mln PLN (about 250.000$ depending on the exchange rate).

Finally good news.

Covid

is on lock down apparently. I dont know the exact rules cause our government is so well run, that they did announce lock down before publication of actual law.

Long story short: I'm not sure if walking the dogs on empty streets will be legal starting tomorrow.

Coronavirus local idiocy // Poland

So they closed marketplace ("targowisko miejskie" for polish speakers) in my town. It was decided by the local city hall, and decision was based on a fake-news that a nearby (bigger) town did this already.

They didn't close the supermarket though.

Polish far right

This is far-right (yet mainstream-ish) polish portal.

The title says: "8th of March. Prayer day for victims of feminism".

Then: "Did celebrating 8th of March help any woman? Sure not! It's better to pray for the victims of feminism, one of most harmful ideologies.

Then you get list of prayer topic:

- for woman that were taught to lose pride of their womanhood;
- for women that were taught to "self-realize" instead giving themselves to others.

There is a lot more.

Polish Politics // LGBT discrimination // sad // funny kind of sad // quotations of discriminatory words

So we have these: "LGBT free zones" that were voted by some town councils. This is scary and sad.

However they don't know what they vote, as they sometimes vote "opposition to declaration of LGDP", or major bishop is fighting with "LGTB".

So they have no idea what they are fighting with.

(And yes Catholic Church leads this "fight against disease of ender and LGBT")

So this is in 2020 :/

I was on an excursion to real working reactor today! It turned out you can just call them, and schedule a visit with a group of friends for couple of hundred PLN.

It was cool.

I was kinda disappointed that after serious investment whole installation lost it's vintage look straight from "communist" Poland ;) When I was working there, there was a plaque: "Inter-City telephone that way".

Byłem dziś na wycieczce w reaktorze w Świerku.

Plan wycieczki był taki: Najpierw wykład o energetyce i reaktorach, potem wejście do hali reaktora i oglądanie działającego reaktora i tyle.

Greenwashing

Polish state owned energy concern just wrote: "Now we start campaign, we'll wash your electric car for free".

🤦‍♂️

Sometime in May judge issued a sentence for fraud in a high-profile case. Two people were found guilty. We still don't know what the sentence is, cause judge is still reading the verdict, cause due to legal reasons you need read aloud name of every victim. And in this particular case there is about 20 thousand of them.

So there is actual judge in that mainly is reading aloud names of random people in , and this was what he was doing the whole summer.

Child abuse, Catholic Church

Context is:

- there is a child sexual abuse problem in Poland in context of Catholic Church;
- we don't know the scale cause nobody cares to count abuse instances (well some people do care but government does not*)
- getting damages money is super hard; cause priests have no property and church does not acknowledge responsibility;
1/
---
* arguably current party is just hostile to church child abuse survivors. But previous didn't care either.

Polish Politics, far right catholic

We have Saint Marys Radio "Radio Maryja", which is a church station that is gathering support for current regime (sometimes they stop doing it, but then they get some money from the government and they start again --- witnessed such thing on my own eyes).

So here is a bishop that teaches kids about merits of new social programmes introduced by the current ruling party:

Poland, nationalism ww2

Nationalists (or facists) would say that was attacked in World War 2 by (choose from the list below):

* Atheists
* Communists (of course S in NSDAP stands for Socialism)
* German nation & Russian Nation

What they omit is that we were rather attacked by two nationalistic regimes (N stands for National). Soviet Russia was somwhat cosmopolitan, but in practice being a Russian in Poland was somewhat a priveledged position too.

The more I read about USA (and ) here, I think we IS 51st state of the USA. With minor differences of better trains and worse GDP.

Poland Homphobia // Facism

Polish newspaper to include: "LGBT free-zone" sticker.

I'm not sure what to do with this. I feel I should do something, but I don't know what could it be. I try to fund good NGO's as much as possible. I try to be as supportive as possible, but I'm not a peoples person. I'll fund any legal action against the newspaper.

Fuck.

bbc.com/news/world-europe-4903

Right now in we have severe drug shortage. Drugs are missing for several reasons, but one of major ones is China closing some their pharmaceutical component factories that sold stuff to Polish producers. These factories were closed to reduce environmental pollution

Fuckin . We should promote producers that have as much supply chain in the EU.

Poland

So today we will have: "antichrist at the gates" program in our nation wide religious station: "virgin Mary radio".

Another piece from is: there is a law that when you offer commodity service (eg. sell or print things) you need to offer it to to general public, and can't exclude people from the business on a whim.

There wasbig case where printer wouldn't print LGBT materials, was sued and lost.

Right wing court ruled it is conflicting with the constitution.

The problem is that mostly this law was used to force businesses to handle eg. wheelchaired customers.

The story from for today is: in some car factory owners (Volvo) wanted to open a LGBT support group. This was opposed by local unions.
