Seeking Science Fiction

#AskMastodon What are some good SF works on parasitism and sex/reproduction? I’m looking for something in the vein of Bloodchild or The Left Hand of Darkness. Not so much “All You Zombies—“ because that was about an individual, rather than a world.

1. Greg Egan's Diaspora contains very nice description of "birth" and childhood of post-human person;

2. The whole Hyperion series (including endymion) has parasites;

3. Life Artificial: "birth" and life of an AI: lifeartificial.com/

4. Lives of Tao: goodreads.com/book/show/159817

5. Orson Scott Card: Ender series books 3 and 4.

6. Robert Charles Wilson: Spin series (parasites are parasiting/symbioting on the civilisation rather than individual)

1. Also this Scott Card: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyrms_(n has some veird repoductive cycles;

2. I keep thinking about Dick, let's say there are some "space" beings that influence consciousness in eg. VALIS (it might be a long-shot); Also UBIK has parasites (kinda sorta);

3. Social Parasitism is in every second SF book on soviet block (spoiler: parasites are metaphor for the communist party ;)). Zajdel: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coming_o
