So I just discovered I can display the output of a custom command to 's panel (little bar atop similar to Android's status bar), any interesting commands to put up there? πŸ€”

Hi mastodon.technology
Noob pcb layouter and foss dev is here.

Let's do some open hardware and try to make it interesting.

Because otherwise hardware design might get boring as hell.

Hey #Fediverse. When you post pictures, please please please with puppies on top fill in that description box for the visually impaired. You will be helping us out tremendously. We want to enjoy your pictures as much as others do. You don't have to write a novel, but just fill in some details.

Thanks with much love:

Worried about the dominance of big instances? No, really, this is quite natural.

As an emergent and self-governing system, it could be expected that the size distribution of #Mastodon instances roughly follows Zipf's law.

Does it?

At first you see the top 6 instances, and then the rest. But on a log-log scale the size distribution is close to a straight line, which would be expected from an emergent system.

Can anyone else with try this?
Open the drop down Version section of this app: f-droid.org/app/com.maxfour.mu

It's causing F-Droid to consistently crash for me.

The law is sort of like this giant code-base that is constantly getting bigger:
- You can't change laws, only add to them
- No tests are written
- Business logic is all over the place
- Documentation? You have the source-code, right?!

Seems like technical debt

Spent weeks trying to implement a rearrange functionality relying on states, when I could've written it more purely and use 30% less code. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

When implementing a complex functionality, try to stay pure as possible (as in no side-effects) and don't rely on states. Debugging a faulty function is way easier than a rapidly mutating state.
