MS SQL Server, teasing DBAs Show more
A day in my life, working on the server for my multiplayer game in Scala:
Me: Gee, Scala sure is a wonderful language! ๐
[Makes mistake, and the compiler catches it right away and helps me fix it]
Me: This is great! I love Scala! ๐ Now I need to connect to a database. ๐ค
[Looks through list of libraries, complicated install instructions, spends hours fighting with mysterious package installation errors]
Me: Life is pain ๐ฟ
"502: Bad Gateway"
That's kinda judgemental. Maybe the gateway is just having a rough day.
It's so cold outside that the temperature widget on my Apple Watch says the temperature is "(nu...".
I love the error messages in Elm. The ergonomics of using Elm are best-in-class so far as I'm concerned. I've never used a language that made it so clear when you've made a mistake and what to do about it. Writing Elm is like having a smart pair-programming partner who catches every bug and explains it all in clear language.
Pursuit is also great. After using Pursuit and Hoogle, it's painful to use languages that don't provide type-driven search for libraries and functions.
I got dinner with the family taken care of a day early, so now I have the whole day for programming on my side project (and watching Netflix with my wife while curled up in front of the fire tonight). Best Xmas I've had in years!
I've written a Scala app and I'm going to have to get it hosted soon. I'm not familiar with the JVM ecosystem, and things like Tomcat seem huge and complicated. Any recommendations for a simple way to host an Akka-HTTP app?
