The urge to get a van and drive around Europe sleeping in it and working remotely in a covid safe manner, the reality of not having a drivers license and it not being safe to get one.

A Subway sandwich (made in 5 minutes by people who earn approximately €7 per hour) costs €12 here in this absolute hellscape.

Went back to my undergrad days to do some computer drawings

4 days into living alone and I have simultaneously made myself a cup of hot black tea with milk, and a gin & tonic

I don’t like this Batman but I do like the vibes of Alfred trying to dad an obviously not-doing-well young billionaire who he has no authority over

TFW you’ve worked on two things and want to commit one of them so you carefully add only the right files but when you go to commit your muscle memory betrays you and you type “git add .” and don’t notice until after the deploy.

The worst financial advice I ever received was "when you move, keep your bank account open with a small amount of money on it", now taxes are a nightmare

really weird every time I see someone in the US say "please report this tweet for hate speech!" and the tweet in question says "This Tweet from @.whoever has been withheld in France based on local law(s). Learn more."

like, twitter already knows it's hate speech

You know what, fuck it:

What become of the professor from carnegie mellon university who did snail facts on tiktok? I can't find him

I don’t really understand how the board a publicly owned company can sell all the shares that their shareholders own. Does every company anyone owns shares in have the right to compulsory-purchase all the shares from all the shareholders? What rules govern the price?

For programming I do a lot of and and I would like to do more , I make websites and audio things and have made lil games. I studied music computing/creative computing, so I'm not super into the algorithms and data structures side of things.

A lot has changed since my last so here's a new one.

Hi! I'm Hugh from Ireland but living in Amsterdam.

For work, I'm a principal web developer at Twilio, and for fun I like cycling, playing and bass, playing themed games (, -engineers), listening to and , and sometimes writing open source code.

I'm getting into modelling and on the verge of buying a 3d printer. Generally aiming to do more geeky computer things. Hi!

I didn't realize this until now, so sharing.

Mastodon's default layout is like the Twitter web interface, a single timeline. But if you go into preferences and turn on advanced mode, you get a tweetdeck style interface, with columns! Would recommend.

I’ll consider using neural networks in my products, but only organic free range neural networks, none of that “trained on a server farm” muck!

Hi! mastodon.social is being slow right now, as far as I can tell because there's twice as many people using it at the same time as ever have; I'm working on making it go fast again, but in the meantime, do remember to invite people to joinmastodon.org instead of directly to mastodon.social. People don't have to be on the same server to follow you! Thanks!

I don’t need the world to move to mastodon, the world is a lost cause - leave the crypto scams and the fascists on the other site.
