These pictures of Jupiter taken by the Juno spacecraft are fucking with my emotions; I remember avidly staring at grainy black and white photos of the planets when I was very little. Absolutely breathtaking #astronomy

The next step after this picture was to take it directly to the trash can. I've thrown away my money in more efficient ways, to be sure.

Clearly one of my best purchases: a Soundblaster Live card for Macintosh, ready for your G3 or G4! (Yes, still in shrink-wrap, which means money literally down the toilet.)

Also from Wikipedia: "Scorpia of Computer Gaming World in 1989 gave the game a very positive review, noting that killed monsters tend to stay dead"

Worker: "Hey boss, there was a bit of a mixup mastering the 4 disk sides..."

Boss: "Eh."

Unix will give you enough rope to shoot yourself in the foot. If you didn’t think rope would do that, you should have read the man page.

As I continue my way through old Apple 2 floppies to image, I fondly recall a time when Chuck Yeager had his name on a dozen different flight sims.

Here's the first.

As a hint, here's a picture of the first disk, which didn't cause any problems.

I've been using a new tool called Applesauce to image all my old Apple 2 floppies.

It took me longer than I care to admit to figure out why this particular Bard's Tale 2 disk was reading as blank. Can you spot the problem?

Good news: daughter has rearranged the pile of controllers on my floor into color-coded piles.

Programming is great because you can just take that huge messy chuck from the middle of your function and hide it away under a new name in a new function and feel good about how you "cleaned up" the original function by abstracting the internals.

This is exactly how I used to clean my room as a kid - I'd refactor all the junk on the floor to be under my bed. Boom - problem solved.

When I was younger I used to try to make sure all my classes and API stuff was built to “cover for future” needs. I was dumb. It’s just about impossible to do that. Code for now. Write good, easy to understand code, so future you can modify it. If it has to be more flexible do it when the time comes. Anywho, maybe someone will find that useful?

sorry gang, i guess the security on mastodon isn’t so great. hackers got a hold of my account. i would never toot that “my favorite part of the ghostbusters song is when ray parker jr says bustin’ makes me feel good”

I have a bunch of friends from Twitter joining Mastodon tonight so I made a quick guide to how the site works. Making it public so anyone can see/boost it if it's helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Tootbot sounds like a fart app.
Mastobot well that sounds even worse.
