I'm losing my patience with Google+
@ocdtrekkie How did you hear about Luke, Jacob? Was there an announcement?
@gideonro Honestly I think it was just noticing he was tweeting a lot more about YouTube stuff. I think it was around the same time Spaces, his pet project while on G+, got canned.
@gideonro I can't find why I thought he was on about YouTube at the moment, but I guess his LinkedIn just says "internal product development tools" now.
@ocdtrekkie That makes sense. Spaces seemed pretty ill-conceived to me.
@gideonro My understanding is that releasing products is more praised at Google than just improving them. People have a strong incentive there to launch new products, even if they are not likely to succeed.
I have noticed a drop off in interesting content but I had attributed this to the election/post-election drama. I think an awful lot of people have on emotional red alert for almost an entire year now.
Then again, I have never moderated any communities or organized events on G+ so I may not have the full picture.
I have noticed more engagement on Twitter from people I follow in G+ and have tried to follow suit but Twitter feels like ADHD on crack.
@jwehrle Yeah, the community moderation tools have been a complete disaster.
Do you find Twitter more ADHD than here? To be honest, I find things hard to track fully here from time to time.
Federated stream: more ADHD than Twitter.
Local stream: mostly in Japanese.
Home stream: a little sparse at the moment.
But maybe I'm not doing this quite right.
I see the same here tonight, as well as you. Of course since I AM very ADHD I can deal with it. Lots like many years ago on IRC back in 1999 or so. Will watch and learn. instances and hashtags seem to be helpful.
@gideonro
I've made some friends on G+ who I'm quite certain would not find this place... comfortable?
I hate to simply disappear from G+ but I really don't want to make some Big Announcement. (And I might be overestimating how big a hole my departure will leave. :)
Google is a machine and it's creations mechanistic. What I'm feeling here is organic.
@smays Yeah, I'm not going to suddenly disappear either, and to be honest, I wouldn't have fired off that critique if I didn't care.
And yeah, I could see many Google Plussers not feeling quite at home here at this point at least.
Also...
I posted this 33 weeks ago, pretty much making similar statements and concerns:

I'm surprised you're still there TBH. It was pretty apparent Google was going to kill G+ the second Vic left.

@Averly Loved your "So long and thanks for all the fish" meme.
I've actually gotten so much out of that community. I've learned a ton from the people I follow and interact with there. That is what is so damn maddening about the state of things. The management is killing something that could have been (and actually was at one point) really great.
@gideonro I no longer have the feeling that I am part of the target audience of G+.
@Masek I know what you mean. I'm hoping (but not banking) that there will be some intervention.
@gideonro I followed you here from your G+ post.
@gideonro Yeah, I've seen interest on G+ just kinda peter out. It is large enough Google didn't want to just drop the axe on it, but it seems like they're happy to let it just fall by the wayside until it is the new MySpace.
I've known Luke was gone for a while, he was behind some of the YouTube TV stuff, I think.
