They might as well hand the hardware over to the criminals.

@TheUNITYEmp This is the first time I've been on Mastodon in several hours, so I just now saw your comment. Didn't mean to ignore you! The only correct solution for magnetic hard disks with sensitive data is physical destruction. The move to solid state drives will improve security, but even then, the data deletion has to be done properly, or it's recoverable from SSDs, too.
