TIL: this is what an undersea internet cable looks like. What an absolute unit.

@andrioid what model if you don't mind me asking? i have gigabit fiber and have been debating going the mikrotik route.

after weeks of procrastinating, finally got around to cleaning away all the spider webs on the balcony and potted a citronella plant.

i like how intensely herbal citronella smells :happycat:

@jtr years ago i used to use mplayer on linux, and it could always handle anything i threw at it. haven't tried it on mac, but it looks like there is a homebrew formula for it:

(that said, these days i just use vlc...)

i have reached that inevitable point in my rust journey where i am in a knife fight with the borrow checker.

that said, Rc and RefCell are pretty neat and should let me accomplish what i'm aiming for.

(why yes, i am trying to store an application state struct. why do you ask?)

Replace every article about Elon Musk with an article about someone fixing/maintaining important infrastructure. A person repairing buses. A person repairing and tweaking wheelchairs. A person tending to a community garden.

men will literally call every place in town only to be told its a 6 month wait for new patients plus they don't take your insurance rather than go to therapy

back up and running!

after 1.5 years a good amount of dust was lodged in the NUC's tiny heatsink. also decided to replace the stock thermal paste. i'll let it idle in steady state for a little bit and check in on the temperature graphs later.

We do things not because they are easy, but because we thought they were going to be easy.

idle temps on my intel NUC have been creeping upwards. i think it's time for some spring cleaning.

this town isn't big enough for the both of us so it looks like we should build more housing and get rid of some restrictive low-density zoning

@djwfyi mario odyssey and the link's awakening remake are also very good

the config in keyd was a bit tricky because the naive thing would nuke the fn-backspace as delete binding. creating a layer for fn and restoring the normal delete key functionality in that layer seems to have solved it :wizardcat:
