I picked up #Laravel & Lumen the last 3 weeks for a new project... and I don’t think I’ve ever been this productive in my life. Super excited with what I’m building right now... most exciting PHP project in a long time. \o/
I saw a cartoon avatar generator with an API a while back and I can’t find it again, it allowed you to create a cartoon person that looked like yourself, similar style to this, but again, API: https://getavataaars.com
I've tried several times to get on the Laravel train, and have failed miserably each time, getting frustrated before I could get productive. However, the last couple of days I've been using Lumen to build an API, and it's the *perfect* backdoor for my brain to just pick up what it needs as I go along, rather than needing to front-load a bunch of Laravel conventions up front.
I choose Lumen knowing that I may need to expand this project beyond the API later; happy with my choice so far!
I have a Netgear R6400 with split 2.4ghz and 5ghz WiFi networks, and for some reason devices in the 5ghz cannot see devices on the 2.4ghz… is that normal? I feel like they're all on the same router/subnet (I think) and that shouldn't be an issue. I think my only option is a single network but my experience thus far is that most devices end up picking up the much slower 2.4ghz signal. Any ideas?
Tor is giving away a great Scalzi book, The Collapsing Empire. Highly recommend: https://ebookclub.tor.com
Also, USB-C is the future. BUT they didn't support multiple devices, and I love that feature in my Sennheisers.
I've been using the Sony's for about an hour trying to decide if I can forgive this, and I'd gotten myself to "well, I can always use the 3.5mm jack with my laptop, and Bluetooth with my phone".
Then the battery died. No big deal, grab a USB-C cable from my desk and plug it into my laptop. AND THAT'S WHERE IT WENT WRONG. 2/?
I have never been so mad with a pair of headphones as I am right now.
I used to own the Bose QC25, and when it came time to replace them, I bought the QC35, after some issues — notably, terrible audio from PC and bad multi-device pairing — I returned them and pick up the Sennheiser PXC550. I've loved them for 2 years but it's time for new ones.
Enter the Sony 1000XM3 — I bought some for my wife. Love the sound quality, the comfort, the noise cancellation, the gesture to turn off NC 1/?
New high score! #InboxHero
Has anyone actually successfully gotten PHP 5.3 w/Precise working on @travisci working? It keeps using Trusty and failing for 5.3: https://docs.travis-ci.com/user/reference/trusty#php-images
See this build/job for details: https://travis-ci.org/akamai/AkamaiOPEN-edgegrid-php/jobs/501724477 (you can see the config too)
After almost a month and a half away from my family, I'm finally heading home. I treated myself. LHR✈️SEA #home
