Rust. Should I learn Rust? It seems to be a thing. There seems to be some money in it. How does one even "get started" in Rust? I can't imagine that there's even such a thing as "entry level."

Every time I make any effort to be more attentive to, and active in, any semblance of "tech community," I am swiftly reminded of just how offputting they are and have always been.

Why are tech groups moving from Slack to Discord?

Every cow-orker: "We really need a wiki for all these snippets and tips."

Me: "Here are a bunch of options that cover multiple use cases."

Crickets: "chirp."

Just saw a note on code deprecation, reported as "code desecration," and this is now the Correct Format for me.

It's clear that "technologically neutral" can lead to abuses: Tusky being "neutral because the tech permits it" could have led to more hate speech like "kill all Jews", Mozilla doing "nothing because certs are technically designed to work this way" lets the digital rights of Kazakhs be eroded.

It is clear that technology serves a human purpose, technology doesn't serve itself, so I believe we shouldn't let our human morals be a slave to technology, we should make technology reflect our humanism

This damn monitor sits on a raised platform which I cannot remove, and also has a stalk which cannot go lower, so unless I sit very upright I wind up always looking slightly upward, which gets painful quickly if I’m slouching.

So it forces a “better” posture.

Why not just electrify my chair, you say…

@brunoph User note: the Mastonaut app doesn’t respect custom character limits set for different instances, as far as I can tell.

This is a fraction of what I've been receiving the past few days/weeks through the App Store and email. It sucks, and it's impacting sales massively (to the point where it makes me question whether continued support is even worth it), but just got to hold it out.

The ebay/paypal hyper nexus of suck has become utterly and irretrievably useless.

@brunoph Do you have any plans to implement the “local only” posting option? Or is it there and I’ve missed it?

So far I’m liking Mastonaut a lot for managing multiple accounts, but it lacks the “reply only locally” option that is important in some instances.

Sales guy asked me for “stream of consciousness” comments on a new pitch.

Poor guy.

I don’t think he’ll be asking that again.

Is there an instance that’s particularly emusician friendly?

In lieu of music, I have taken to playing TV and movies while I work.

This week, my collection of “Harbor Command”, perhaps the squarest show ever aired.

Mastodon for Tech Folks

This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
