Atom has been my text editor for years. What are the cool kids using these days?

RT Lately, I've been talking about how monopolization in the tech sector has been attended in a rise of defensive legal tools to prevent new competitors from "disrupting" the firms that gained dominance through disruption (the golden age for pirates who become admirals)

Days since I cried out "WHAT THE F**K" in a technical discussion at work.

Programming isn't about what you know; it's about what you can figure out.

Every great developer you know got there by solving problems they were unqualified to solve until they actually did it.

I'm a web developer.

I was at a happy hour with colleagues, and noticed that I was the only one in my age range (mid-40s) who was still a developer. Everyone else went into management, or something else.

As I'm getting older, I realize I could never do anything else. If I go too long without coding, I get cranky. Also, if a meeting is boring at all, I can't pay attention. Managers have to do that all day.

Anybody else into coding for the long haul? How did you do it? Any regrets?

What's the difference between Mastodon and the bird site?

I know the guidelines here prohibit Nazis and harassment. But it also seems like people here are not discussing politics. It seems to me we have opted for a non-political culture here, even though we have not explicitly banned politics.

Is that fair?

I just joined. This is my first toot. Hope it isn't lame.

Mastodon for Tech Folks

This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
