Someone told me that computer software is no more "for" an ideology than a screwdriver is "for" working on bomber aircraft.

@cj I don't know if they still use screwdrivers for bomber aircrafts, but I am sure they use software. This person might just be lost in translation...

@natacha You're too kind, I think they're a little more lost than just translation. They fundamentally don't see ethics in a lot of engineering things.

@cj There's a saying in French that science without ethics is evil.

Your friend is right that software on its own is not imbued with morality. It's only we human beings that understand the larger context.

It then becomes our duty to apply this knowledge.
