Incredible work by trashhalo and @fribbledom rendering graphics in the terminal with Bubble Tea. 🌈

Check out the before and after where they utilize old school BBS style rendering techniques to double the vertical resolution:

github.com/trashhalo/imgcat/is

@charm

It also heavily improves the conformity of the individual "pixels", as they are now (almost) square.

It's a ton of fun to go through my photos and see how they would look in "8-bit ASCII" 😊

@charm @fribbledom nice!

is that doubling both horiz and vert resolution because it's using regular (half) width chars instead of full-width box char to remain square-ish?

@brion

Yep, almost: half-height boxes and mixing fore- and background colors. I don't think there are any half-width chars (outside of Unicode).

@charm

@charm @fribbledom using the half block character with both foreground and background?

nice work @trashhalo cool to see your name out in the wild

@charm @fribbledom and if yall are into terminal-based ansi ux, i recommend checking out the canvas diff from antsy: github.com/robey/antsy/blob/ma (tho it might be harder to implement in golang)
