More interesting than baseball is the fact that networks/stations are still transmitting 720p HDTV. This is essentially half the visual information compared to 1080i/1080p. /shrug mastodon.technology/media/YmJ8

@gudenau yep. Each 1080i frame alternates 720 lines, but to the human eye we see all 1080 lines at once.

@cale It's still half the data and can cause horrible artifacts.

@cale Meanwhile in Australia: every station transmits 576i.
Just right for my old laptop, I suppose.

@n8foo Depends on the application I suppose. 1080i still displays more information than 720p, but 1080i can fall apart in slow motion scenarios, like sports.
