๐Ÿ‘ It's ๐Ÿ‘ 2019 ๐Ÿ‘ folks, ๐Ÿ‘ PID 1 ๐Ÿ‘ should be ๐Ÿ‘ written in ๐Ÿ‘ JavaScript ๐Ÿ‘ using ๐ŸŽ‰ Electron ๐ŸŽ‰

โœ”๏ธ Supports Ubuntu Linux and Kali Linux
โœ”๏ธ Manage service dependencies using ๐ง๐ฉ๐ฆ
โœ”๏ธ Use ๐‘๐ž๐๐ฎ๐ฑ to manage the state of your service
โœ”๏ธ Each service uses its own isolated copy of the Electron runtime based on Chromium 4.0.212.0 โ€” no need to worry about version conflicts or learn how to use apt-get
โœ”๏ธ Microsoft Windows and Apple iOS support planned in a future release

@bugaevc maybe with this, folks who hated systemd will start to like it. When do you start shipping ?

Did you consider writing in rust with WebAssembly as target ?

@AMDG2 we cannot use Rust because I've heard it doesn't support ES6 classes yet

Seriously, it's 2019 and there *still* are languages that want me to write the barbaric

MyClass.prototype.myMethod = function myMethod() {}

??? And I've also heard Rust doesn't have "this", so I can't write ^that^ properly either??

But as soon as they implement ES6 classes and "this", we'll start looking into using Rust, sure, thanks for your suggestion and stay tuned!

[P.S. none of this is serious]

@bugaevc Rust is much more metaphysical oriented than Javascript which is more bullshit oriented as the industry is showing it.

In rust you self refer to yourself to understand if you own yourself or if you lifetime was just borrowed to you by someone bigger than you.

In Javascript you never know what this is.

@mcread @bugaevc

I think I guess... I think I feel ... I know what is waht but I am not certenly to explain is really deifficult.ใ€€Anyway GLHF GLHF : )

@ninja I know, right? But this is PID 1, we cannot afford the compile times, and we want to keep it running even in presence of type errors, otherwise the Ubuntu kernel goes "kernel panic"

You are a vile and evil creature, @bugaevc! Now I need to wash my hands. And eyes. And burn my handset.
