Ooooh! So, while diagnosing some issues with my tape recorder, I realized it was producing a whine on the record line despite it being silent. I opened the case and started poking around. Turns out that if I short a couple of pins in the input line, the whine stops. Then slowly builds up again. I think this points towards a bad cap. What do you think?
