flight simulator, fuel efficiency

Running at max continuous power (just shy of 100% N1) at 40k feet I was passing Mach 1.8 (ground speed around 1000 knots), but burning a whopping 15,000 pounds of fuel per hour.

A full ferry loadout including external pods is about 35,000 lbs of fuel.

Full power with afterburners is over 17,000 lbs/hr. :D

A real ferry flight would likely run slower for lower fuel usage. ;)

@brion These are truly amazing to me. I think the last flight simulator I played was in the 486 days. They seem to have come a little ways.
