Running at max continuous power (just shy of 100% N1) at 40k feet I was passing Mach 1.8 (ground speed around 1000 knots), but burning a whopping 15,000 pounds of fuel per hour.
A full ferry loadout including external pods is about 35,000 lbs of fuel.
Full power with afterburners is over 17,000 lbs/hr. :D
A real ferry flight would likely run slower for lower fuel usage. ;)
This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
