Server platforms are single points of failure for their users, and when they die they die en masse. Self-host your blog and/or keep backups, and if you can, donate to the Internet Archive for their maintenance of the Wayback machine!

I donate to the Internet Archive annually, and I've recently started using a WordPress plugin on my blog (which is where I've decided to put the material I want to preserve) that automatically submits each post to the IA 24 hours after publishing, to account for edits and a day's worth of discussion.
