The plot thickens...
It seems Google may have taken down Blender's videos on YouTube because they wouldn't display ads for them.

@switchingsocial exactly. Their customer service has been pretty shocking.
It's my dear hope that they throw up a PeerTube instance in protest. Or at the very least, switch to Vimeo.
Google may not make much direct revenue from them, but I'd wager a lot of people who watch Blender's videos click through to their recommendations for ad-supported videos.
It's such a weird way of going about it though. If they are going to force YT members to show adverts, why not just say so openly?
And why take the videos of a major partner down without explanation for 4 days, lie about it, then spring the compulsory ads on them?
Something odd going on behind the scenes.
They have indeed now started a peertube site:
hey remember when google were good
@bobstechsite i noticed this a while back and i was like "why???"
@infinity Google has an uncanny knack of hurting the creators that made YouTube what it is today.
They can act the way they do now because they think they're the only game in town. Hopefully PeerTube will put pay to that!
@bobstechsite @Digitalcourage It is time for #PeerTube now!
An update courtesy of @switchingsocial is that apparently the Blender project has started experimenting with PeerTube.
@bobstechsite THE FALL OF YOUTUBE IS AMONG US
@brandon Yaaaaaaasssssss! YOUTUBE IS DOOMED
@bobstechsite
This was after initially telling Blender it was just a "known issue" that their engineers were working on.
