One could say that democratising moderation has and engineering a service that doesn't deliberately highlight toots out of context has helped make Mastodon a lot less adversarial.

eg. I rarely see "I'm mad at this current news, here's me quote tweeting someone getting mad at my unvarnished opinion about it so my followers can pile in and yell at them in retaliation"
